Inside Bangunan Dato’ Jaafar Muhammad

Dominated by Johor-Malay and Moorish-influenced architecture, Kota Iskandar is the administrative centre of the Johor state government. It was formerly known as the Johor State New Administrative Centre (JSNAC) and was declared open on the 19th of April 2009 by His Majesty AlMarhum Sultan Iskandar of Johor, the father of the current Sultan of Johor, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim.

The impressive and expansive Bangunan Dato’ Jaafar Muhammad (or the Dato’ Jaafar Muhammad Building) is named after the first Menteri Besar of Johor who served between 1886-1919 and houses the Menteri Besar’s Office and that of members of State Executive Council, as well as the State Secretariat.
