In the middle of the image is the ‘Bangunan Sultan Ibrahim’ or the Sultan Ibrahim Building, as viewed from the marching grounds of the old Johor Military Force’s offices in downtown JB. The building once housed the state secretariat before operations were moved to Kota Iskandar in Iskandar Puteri, the new state administrative centre.
The marching grounds of the Johor Military Force or better known in Johor as JMF (formed in 1886 during the reign of Sultan Abu Bakar of Johor) is, either by design or by accident, symbolically located at the foot of Bukit Timbalan.
Historically and significantly, Johor is not only the first Malay state to have its own modern armed forces but it is, til today, the only state to have one.
