
Another significant landmark of Johor Bahru, the Sultan Ibrahim Building, was the main administrative building for the state of Johor until it was replaced by the new state administrative centre located in Iskandar Puteri.
Built in the 1930s, it sits atop Bukit Timbalan with the tower being used by the Japanese Imperial Army to spy on the defensive fortifications in Singapore during World War II, before the fall of Singapore to the Japanese Imperial Army.
