Street Art in Kuala Terengganu

This mural was found in Kuala Terengganu, a city on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The mural portrays a rustic scene that can be typically found in the ‘kampung’ (literally translated as village).

Here, the scene is that a weather-beaten middle aged man resting on a bench made from a fallen coconut tree. Beside him is most probably that of his beloved pet bird. The status of the pet bird in the villages especially amongst its enthusiasts is akin to that of the pampered household cat or the family pet dog, so highly regarded are they.
