Songket Johor Jauhar

In this part of the world called The Nusantara, the Songket is essentially a piece of cloth, with embroidered motifs, either with gold or silver threads, decorating the cloth. The Songket is highly sought after and worn by both men and women, in differing styles, during both festive and official occasions

The use of gold or silver threads as well as the motifs depend very much on the design and for whom the Songket is meant for. As an example, the above Songket is designed and woven for His Majesty The Sultan of Johor with motifs indicating as such and it differs to the Songket for the Permaisuri Johor, the Tunku Mahkota Johor (Crown Prince) as well as other members of the Johor Royal family.
