Located deep in the heartlands of the Minangkabau of Malaysia, the Istana Lama Seri Menanti is a palace formerly used as the official residence of His Majesty The Yang Di Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan.
I last visited the Istana Lama Seri Menanti six (6) years ago in 2012. It is an impressive building especially when you discover that the whole palace was constructed using wood and held into place using wooden pegs.
In 1992, the former palace was designated as a heritage site and converted as a Royal Museum by consent of the then Yang Di Pertuan Besar, Tuanku Jaafar, who reigned from April 1967 til December 2008.
