Kellie’s Castle is sometimes known as Kellie’s Folly. It is located in Batu Gajah, Perak and is named after William Kellie Smith, (1870-1926), a Scot by descent and a planter by occupation.
William Kellie Smith was born in Kellas, Moray Firth, Scotland and died suddenly in 1926 of pneumonia while on a business trip to Portugal.
With his passing, work on his labour of love ceased with his wife and children returning to the United Kingdom.
As with many old buildings left abandoned from the turn of the last century, sightings have been reported and is none other than the man himself.
